I don't know about you but every time there's a runDisney weekend going on I get a renewed sense of motivation. If you remember, I believe our first post began during the 20th Anniversary Walt Disney World Marathon weekend and here we are over a month later and the Princess 1/2 Marathon Weekend is upon us. If you're finding yourself needing a little motivation, hop on over to twitter where you can get immediate updates about all of the fun things that are going on! As a matter of fact I'm stealing a quote from April Holmes (Paralympic Gold Medalist) who just spoke at the runDisney Princess Half Meet Up and was quoted by @runDisney...
"Your gold medal comes in being better than you were yesterday!"

Week Six
Week Six is going to be an extension of Week Five but we are now aiming to increase the amount of run time to 2:30 instead of 2:00. So, remember that last week we were running for 2:00 then walking for 1:00? This week, we would like to to try to run for 2:30 then walk for 1:30. We will continue with the length of time being a minimum of 20-25 minutes (plus a 5 minute warm-up) but now we are aiming to complete 2 miles.
That's it! We'll meet back up next Saturday to discuss our goals for week seven and talk about how we did on week six. Also, don't forget to check out Didi's website :DisTherapy for more beginner tips every Tuesday!
Now, for The Disney Gal Confessional. Here's how we did:
I will reiterate this every week: The walk/run times are mere guidelines and are to be altered depending on your fitness level. If you can only run for 1 minute and walk for 2 minutes, that's fine too! If the answer to the question, "Are you doing more for your health this week than you did last week?" is "YES" then good for you!!
Walkers just walk a minimum of 3 times this week and work yourself up to 2 miles by the end (March 2).

Now, for The Disney Gal Confessional. Here's how we did:
Disney Gal Kelly:
This week was an absolute mess for me. I can usually count on the gym on Monday, track & volleyball Tuesday and Zumba on Wednesday. However, I didn't count on my dog getting extremely sick. I was not able to leave her alone for days, so I had to get a little creative with my workouts. There are 13 stairs to go to our second floor and they make for great exercise climbing them over and over again. While this probably will not help in extending my run time, I still feel like I got a workout in. And on a happier note, my dog is recovering slowly but surely.
Another thing that I think will really help is a club I joined, actually it's more of a contest. I got a text from a friend saying she was starting a 6 week Biggest Loser contest. Weigh in is this Sunday and final weigh in is April 14th. Cash to the top 3 Losers and better health for all. Sounds like a win-win. Wish me luck and let's keep up the motivation!
Disney Gal Tricia:
I refuse to let the weather dictate whether or not I decide to exercise but it has helped to modify my plans. Even if I can't get outside to run I have done something on the days that I have set a commitment to exercise. I have only ran one day this week (2.5 miles walk/run which averaged a 11:30 minute mile pace) but I also completed three additional days of cross training for 30-40 minutes. My cross training has consisted of bicycling, walking on a treadmill, or using an elliptical at a vigorous pace (for me). For me, setting a schedule in place and blocking out the time is really important. If you decide to simply exercise when you have some free time, then you run the risk of always finding an excuse. That is why we are here to motivate you every week.
So, that's my tip of the week: Use the weekend to plan your attack for the upcoming week and stick to it! Have a back-up plan in case the weather isn't cooperating too. If you prepare for the set-backs before they happen, they really won't be a set-back at all. Happy Running!
Disney Gal Judy:
This week are are visiting our oldest son Paul and his wife Renee in North Carolina, yesterday we went to Kitty Hawk and walked all over seeing were the Wright Brother's first flight was and also we went to the museum in the little town of Elizabeth City where we climbed the stairs and did more walking around; which was my exercise for yesterday.
Today's exercise was a visit to the Mariner Museum, which is where the Monitor is, so we did a lot of stairs, which my knee really needed today as it really bothering me for some reason. I am sure tomorrow will be more walking around today, but it is better then just sitting around!
We registered today for the 7k that is going to be on March 16th in Chicago, so we will start getting ready for that when we return home next week.
