As someone who has been involved with theater all of my life both on stage and now as a director of free children’s performing arts programs one of the things I am most excited to experience when I attend the Disney Social Media Moms Celebration in a few weeks is the all new Epcot International Festival of the Arts.
Combining visual, culinary and performing arts from around the world, the first-ever Epcot International Festival of the Arts opened this week and creates a global masterpieces for thee next six weeks on Fridays through Mondays through Feb. 20, 2017 at Epcot at Walt Disney World. The best part is that the Festival will feature new art each week, making each weekend original.
Have Your Art… and Eat It Too!
No Festival at Epcot would be complete without specially created delicacies to tempt the palate and signature libations to sip on. unique aspect of this event is that guests will be able to watch chefs creating some of the Festival dishes.
The Festival of the Arts will feature Food Studios located around Epcot’s World Showcase. Now you can Have Your Art… and Eat It Too as you prepare your palate for art-inspired dishes with a delicious Disney twist!
Even Ratatouille’s Remy couldn’t have whipped up more mouthwatering morsels! Foodies can feast on delightfully themed fare featured at special food studios along with our year-round eateries. With menus so innovative, Guests won’t know whether to eat or admire!
From the pieces of Disney historical artist Mary Blair and Herb Ryman art of Epcot, to current Disney artists Joe Kaminski and Costa Alavezos, guests won’t only be surrounded by incredible visions, they’ll watch the creative process live. Disney on Broadway Concert Series
Over the six weekends of the festival, park Guests will enjoy different pairings of phenomenal Broadway talent in concert, performing songs from some of Disney on Broadway’s award-winning shows, including The Lion King, Newsies, and Aladdin, to name a few.
Epcot and the Walt Disney World Resort are thrilled to be collaborating with Disney Theatrical Productions, which will bring an exciting new showcase of favorite music and Broadway talent to the America Gardens Theatre stage. Throughout the six weekends of the festival, different pairings of phenomenal Broadway artists will perform songs from some of Disney on Broadway’s award winning shows.
Jan. 13-16 and 20-23: Ashley Brown and Josh Strickland performing songs from:
Disney’s Beauty and the Beast, Tarzan, Mary Poppins and The Little Mermaid
Jan. 27-30 and Feb. 3-6: Kerry Butler and Kevin Massey performing songs from Disney’s Beauty and the Beast, Tarzan, Newsies and Aladdin
Feb. 10-13 and 17-20: Kissy Simmons and Alton Fitzgerald White performing songs from Disney’s The Lion King, Aida, Aladdin and The Little Mermaid
Performances will be 5:30 p.m., 6:45 p.m. and 8 p.m. Friday through Monday of each festival weekend.
Much like the Candlelight Processional, there is no better way to enjoy this incredible line-up of Broadway talent than with a dining package. The Disney on Broadway Concert Series Dining Package adds an enchanting bonus to breakfast, lunch or dinner at select Epcot restaurants: priority seating at the 8:00 PM concert that same night!

Future World Plaza will also be filled with a variety of other visual and live performances including Epcot Living Statues, performances by Central Florida high schools and acclaimed university and college talent appearing through a partnership with Disney Performing Arts. Plus, Epcot’s American Music Machine will perform on the Future World Fountain Stage.
Art in Performance
View the world through a kaleidoscope of multidisciplinary performances at this non-stop talent show. Watch renowned Disney artists Stephen Fishwick and Trevor Carlson create a dash of Disney magic on canvas—right before your eyes. All around the World Showcase, living art statues strike a pose while chalk artists replicate works by the world’s greatest masters—on canvas as well as the park’s sidewalks. Let the festivities begin!
Commemorate your visit with artwork and colorful gift items—it’s the perfect way to make memories last forever. Over 50 artists representing Disney and visiting galleries will assemble during the course of the Festival to demonstrate their skills while exhibiting original art. Each weekend provides a unique experience for collectors as well as Disney enthusiasts to meet and greet the artists, purchase original pieces and watch creativity come to life on the spot! One-of-a-kind “art on demand” as well as original paintings and reproductions will be available at the Art of Disney and throughout the park. It’s easy to find a style that speaks to you—there’s a trove of aesthetic riches to choose from!
In addition, you can stop by locations throughout World Showcase and Future World Plaza for special merchandise featuring the inaugural Festival’s logo—from mugs to tee shirts, totes and more. It’s a great way to keep cherished memories alive until next year!
