Last week we were lucky enough to send one lucky Life Is An Adventure-The Disney Gals reader- Nino Panlilio- to see the LEGO Batman movie at a special screening before it opened and in his own words, it did not disappoint.
In fact it was everything that he and his family had hoped it would be and more! Here’s what Nino had to say:
“Counting down the days in anticipation to the LEGO Batman Movie, the movie did not disappoint. Those who loved the original LEGO movie will love this movie as well. Even those who have not watched the original LEGO movie will appreciate the LEGO Batman Movie as the plot, humor, animation, and action sequences can stand on its own merit. This movie is a MUST to Batman fans as they can appreciate the many throwback references of previous Batman iterations. As with the original LEGO movie, it is definitely for the kids, but has more appeal to adults than the original with its humor and references that adults would understand and appreciate. I would definitely watch this movie again, alone, on a date, with a group of friends, or with my family.”
And as for me all I can say is that it’s back, it’s bigger, better and Holy Awesome Batman, get ready- the Cape Crusaders are back and they are ready to save the world in The LEGO Batman Movie now saving the world in theaters everywhere.
When I was growing up, two nights a week I, along with the rest of the country was glued to my television as I sat on the edge of my seat and sat breathlessly as the original Batman and Robin, Adam West and Burt Ward faced off with the likes of the Joker, the Riddler, Penguin and a host of other villains as we had to tune in the following night at the “same bat time, same bat channel” to see if Batman and Robin would come out alive and Batman fever ran rampant throughout the country.
Over the years, many different incarnations of Batman have come to the silver screen and left their marks but until now, it’s like I’m the little girl all over again filled with excitement as the Cape Crusader finally makes his return in the most fitting way possible-as part of the LEGO® universe. Yes I am a grown woman with grown children and grandchildren who walks around singing “Everything Is Awesome” thanks to the LEGO movie that made me laugh, tear up a time or two but mostly reminded me of just how much fun a movie can be, especially when it’s filled with heart so now knowing that two of my all tim favorite things are coming together for one perfect movie-BAM-BOP-POW-bring on the LEGO Batman Movie.
In the irreverent spirit of fun that made The LEGO® Movie a worldwide phenomenon, the self-described leading man of that ensemble – LEGO Batman – stars in his own big-screen adventure. But there are big changes brewing in Gotham City, and if he wants to save the city from The Joker’s hostile takeover, Batman may have to drop the lone vigilante thing, try to work with others and maybe, just maybe, learn to lighten up.
Will Arnett reprises his starring role from The LEGO Movie as the voice of LEGO Batman, aka Bruce Wayne. Zach Galifianakis (“Muppets Most Wanted,” the “Hangover” films) stars as The Joker; Michael Cera (TV’s “Arrested Development”) as the orphan Dick Grayson; Rosario Dawson (TV’s “Daredevil”) as Barbara Gordon; and Ralph Fiennes (the “Harry Potter” films) as Alfred.
The LEGO Batman Movie is directed by Chris McKay, and produced by Dan Lin, Phil Lord, Christopher Miller, and Roy Lee, who worked together on “The LEGO Movie.” The screenplay is by Seth Grahame-Smith and Chris McKenna & Erik Sommers and Jared Stern & John Whittington, story by Seth Grahame-Smith, based on LEGO Construction Toys and based on characters from DC. Batman was created by Bob Kane with Bill Finger; Superman was created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster. Jill Wilfert, Matthew Ashton, Will Allegra and Brad Lewis serve as executive producers.
The new film’s production designer is Grant Freckelton, returning from The LEGO Movie. Also returning is The LEGO Movie editor David Burrows, along with editors Matt Villa, and John Venzon with music composed by Lorne Balfe. To the Batmobile Robin! Suit up and put on your cape, it’s time for The LEGO Batman Movie
