2017 is now in the past and as I look back I realize what a year of ups and downs it was. But I’m also realizing how incredibly generous 2017 was to me and how many blessings came my way last year!
My year started and ended with trips to my favorite place, Walt Disney World of course! Both trips were special for different reasons. My January trip was with sister in law – her first trip! Experiencing the magic for the first time with her was like experiencing it for the first time myself, truly amazing! In early December I made my final Walt Disney World trip for 2017 with my sweet Husband. It had been almost two years since his last trip. But 2017 brought him two new hips and he was finally able to experience the magic without constant pain making it another truly magical trip!
At the end of February my long distance best friend had a major surgery. As I waited for her recovery I experienced an eery silence from my phone that was usually binging with new text messages every few minutes throughout the day. Then on Thursday when my phone beeped and I saw her name I cried tears of joy. Joy that she was ok, joy because she was back, joy because I didn’t realize until that moment just how frightened I had been for her! I’ll never forget that day! It was one of the best days of my year!
Did I mention before that my long distance BF and I had never met? In April that all changed as we met for a magical adventure to a galaxy far, far away! It was like coming home and we had a too short, but out of this world trip! But we would return in June to explore a new world called Pandora! Wow – what an experience that was!
August brought darkness in the middle of a clear day! We were lucky where we live experienced 98% totality during the 2017 eclipse! We were ready with our eclipse glasses! It was amazing to experience a once in a lifetime event with my entire family around me!
Is it just me or does Fall always pass by in the blink of an eye? We had put off vacationing for most of the year due to the above mentioned hip replacement surgeries, so October was a beach filled wonderful month! A visit to the Food and Wine Festival at Epcot added a yummy treat to the month!
I realize it sounds like I’m always on a trip. But there are weeks and weeks in between those trips! Sadly my dad’s health had a small setback this year, but before long he will be back to traveling with me on our magical adventures together! It’s what keeps us going, always looking forward to a great big beautiful tomorrow!
When it comes down to it, family and friends are what make life what it is – ups and downs and everything in between. I was so blessed to have some great times with my family and friends in 2017! And I can’t wait to see what 2018 has in store for us all. I hope you all have the best year ever and remember that life is lived within the small and insignificant moments of every day! The trips are great and the big events in life really are big events, but there’s so much magic and beauty in the every day moments we share with our family and friends! I wish you joy and magic for 2018!
