Move over Marlon Brando, Al Pacino, and Robert Deniro, there’s a new best actor in town ready to take over the throne. In Solo: A Star Wars Story, which blasts into theaters May 25, Chewbacca gives the performance of a lifetime showcasing a range of depth and emotion never before seen in a Wookie.
The Oscar buzz is already starting for this until now, underrated, often over-looked actor whose performance as the faithful sidekick to Han Solo, gives the movie that raw emotional element that will tug at your heartstrings and stay with you long after the last credit has rolled.
In this fun addition to the Star Wars saga, Solo: A Star Wars Movie brings all the fun, action, and surprises, that we’ve all come to expect from the series with some revelations that will leave your jaw on the floor and make you wonder, where will this all lead. Drawing on the backstory of Han (and learning how his name actually came to be) we are drawn in as we learn more about the rogue we’ve all come to know and love.
The movie has familiar undertones that slowly builds and has the feeling of once again putting on the comfortable pair of jeans that fit so well and takes you on a wild ride. It is filled with fun-filled entertainment, great one-liners, the music that well, Star Wars isn’t Star Wars without the familiar melodic underscore that propels and tells the story all on its own, and twists and turns throughout.
It is action packed from the opening credits but has a heart and soul to it and fills in with yet another piece of how the rebellion came to be, and just how the most famous Wookie in the world formed the most unlikely of partnerships of our favorite pilot. It answers some questions, poses even more but mostly it’s just plain old great entertainment and fun for the entire family.
The saga tells the tale of a young Han Solo, Lando and everyone’s favorite Wookie, Chewbacca as we find out more about this loveable rogue. We first met Solo Star when he and his co-pilot Chewbacca accepted a charter request to transport Luke Skywalker, Obi-Wan Kenobi, C-3PO, and R2-D2 from Tatooine to Alderaan on their ship, the Millennium Falcon. Han owed crime lord Jabba the Hutt a great deal of money and had a price on his head.
Bounty hunter Greedo tries to deliver Solo to Jabba, dead or alive, but after a failed attempt to extort the money as a bribe for letting him go, Han managed to shoot and kill Greedo. But while we all know how it ends, what we didn’t know was how it began-until now. On May 25 you’re invited to step on board the Millennium Falcon and journey to a galaxy far, far away in Solo: A Star Wars Story, the all-new adventure with the most beloved scoundrel in the galaxy.
Through a series of daring escapades deep within a dark and dangerous criminal underworld, Han Solo befriends his mighty future copilot Chewbacca and meets the notorious gambler Lando Calrissian, in a journey that will set the course of one of the Star Wars saga’s most unlikely heroes.
Directed by the one and only Ron Howard, the film stars Alden Ehrenreich, Woody Harrelson, Emilia Clarke, Donald Glover, Thandie Newton, Phoebe Waller-Bridge and Paul Bettany. But luckily you don’t need to wait until May 25 to bring home the fun of this rollicking adventure.
